Hanukkah

On November 27 the Jews celebrated the holiday of Hanukkah. This word means reinauguration, because the Jews won the war against  the Greeks, and reopen their Holy temple. They celebrate it  lightning 8 candles, one for each day of Hanukkah.
The army of Israel, led by Yehudá HaMacabi,  won the Selêucidas, and expeled them from Judeia.
The rebellion started in the city of Modiín, with Yehuda´s father, Mathitiau, and spreaded quickly in the territory of Israel.

Halloween

In fact Halloween is short for "All Hallow's Evening" and  the reason we celebrate it is stranger than we think.
The reason we celebrate it is the dead's day, a day when we remember our family and friends who died. It is a Christianized holiday and it is influenced by the Celtic harvest festival.
Nowadays we do funny activities, like trick or treating, wear costumes, carve pumpkings and others.

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May.
The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years. Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.
